Civic Association
The Alverton Civic Association was organized by some local citizens in the early 1950's. The purpose was to provide free loan home medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and hospital type beds, to area residents. The organization was incorporated in the 1980's and several other community activites have been added: 4th of July fireworks (*suspended in 2006 due to costs), Community Day at Idewild Park, New Year's eve Saurkraut Supper, and Christmas Toys for Kids. The free loan hospital equipment program continues as the primary project. Current President of the Civic Ass'n is Marvin Staggers. For more Civic Assn. info click here to send an email..
(*Recently the nearby Republic Services landfill has taken over the expense and operation of the 4th of July fireworks display. The landfill also provides a sports complex that is utilized by area residents)
